Containers.Dirt Roads.Good Music. And of course the star of the show, the Polo Vivo.

Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 saw Johannesburg taken by storm as VW released the New Polo Vivo in a style no one would really expect. This launch saw the famous car manufacturer become one with its audience as fans were treated to a music festival while also getting the chance to get up close and super personal with the car.
The day was filled with activities ranging from:
Polo Vivo Autocross: Where attendees were given the chance to “drag race” with a driver around a speed track just to give a little taste of how the car drives. Speed Mingling: Strangers in a car (The polo vivo) getting to know one another then switching around and meeting new people. Live graffiti artists spraying the containers and my personal favourite, the Lip sync road trip: Where attendees were given the chance to dress up and sing to their favourite tracks as if they were really on a road trip. Songs were chosen and teams got into the car while being recorded and sang their hearts out in the hopes of winning a road trip with three friends with the new polo vivo.
Other interactive activities included the Nokia Lounge. Upon entry to the festival, attendees were given cards with codes on the back for the chance to win prizes with Nokia and Android. Attendees waited in long lines to try their luck and see if they possessed a winning card. The lounge allowed attendees the chance to play Foosball and chill in the mini lounge while also being able to get their phones charged in boxes that locked with a code made up by you (So while you don’t want to miss the party but your phone is dying (sorry, Android phones only!) your phone could charge while you gained battery to record one of the many artists who performed)

After you’ve had your fun and were ready to chill, you were spoilt for food choices as food trucks that were showcasing and selling a variety of foods from burgers, to wraps, to even having chicken popcorn on a waffle (for those who have a braver pallet). Then having quite a number of drinks to choose from at the bar. At that stage you be finding the perfect seat to catch a view of the main stage, or grab a quick bite and heading to the centre to get up close with the artists as they perform on the main stage.

As the day began to become evening, we saw the stage be graced with artists Lady Zamar, Timo ODV, Shekinah, Black Motion DJ Doowap, Kwesta and Cassper Nyovest. Each set as great as the last as the evening became night and attendees finally letting the night take its course.Singing and dancing along to their favourite tracks as we embraced the atmosphere and just took in the good vibes.

As each performance took place, the crowd became bigger and the vibe greater. A true reflection of the kind of people who drive and enjoy the Polo Vivo. VW really did do something special. This first of what we hope becomes many launches that allowed avid fans and new timers to VW to have a full experience with the car and then enjoy a show to thank the crowd for being supporters of the brand.
One could say VW has truly changed the way cars are launched. I say we should look forward to how other car brands will be releasing their people’s favourite cars this year.
